Comments about
the Walkabout environment

The Walkabout staff would like you to give some comments on the Walkabout uLearning Environment by completing a short, online questionnaire. This is to gain feedback on how you went about your learning, using the Walkabout system. This feedback is separate from the normal unit evaluation questionnaire, done for all units at the end of each semester.

While there are no pre-requisite or co-requisite units for this unit, it is expected that students will already have (or can acquire) a basic knowledge of using a personal computer, and a familiarity with the basic use of Windows and the using the Internet.

Because this unit allows a great deal of freedom of when and where students study, they need to manage their time very carefully, being careful not to let study drift away, until it is too late to catch up.

This unit is offered in the ONLINE DAY mode using the Walkabout u-Learning environment. Students can take the unit completely from this web site. On-campus help is also provided for students to get assistance with their work.

Note that this unit is not offered by OCL. OCL students who want to enrol in the unit may, but no extra features are provided for OCL students. In particular, the final exam must be sat at a Monash campus, and there is no email helpdesk.

After you finish uni you will need to go on learning to keep your knowledge and skills up to date. Most of this life long learning will be self motivated learning from a variety of sources, mostly online. Often there will be no formal learning with lectures and tutorials at set times.

This Walkabout online unit aims to get you ready for the type of learning you will need to do in the future. Note that, in this unit in particular, you need to take control of your learning and plan your time and workload.
